Is it feasable to have another name for the fba.ini, exe and dat file, for example: myapp.exe, myapp.ini, myapp.dat? And also to have myapp shown in the memory running program list, instead of FBAversionxxx. Not right now, as it's not really important but somewhere down the road. Would make the app feel a bit more 'professional', imo

Hi,

would you like to download latest version? You will find a simple templates editor for setups inf|ini files.

As I said, CPU or similar sections could be changed in order to make setups compatible with Smartphones and PPC.

Let me know if you find something useful !

I think removing the "[CEDevice.Arm]" section from template could do the trick !
(eventually also remove ProcessorType=0 from [CEDevice] section).

In this way the installer should skip che processor checks..
The bad side of this could be...the installer will start also on old MIPS devices (ppc2000), but FBA.exe won't start because it's compiled for ARM devices. That's just my opinion because i haven't mips ppc or smartphones for testing :)

Let me know if you find something btw ;)

How do we access the templates editor? I have not been able to find it.

When you launch PocketPC setup build window,
you should see a new tab for templates editing (available from latest version 0.2.0.123)

Thank you!

I tried removing those sections, and still get the error message (The installation file is not intended for this device.)

I will do more research tonight.

Please get this file and unpack FBIde.dll inside your FBA directory (temporary rename FBIdeR.dll if you already got it) and try rebuild a setup again.
I put inside it latest CabWiz taken from Microsoft PPC 2002 SDK; it should be newer than current version, so it could support also smartphones...
Let me know!

I just tried it, and no, it did not change the error.

(I tried it with the default templates, and with the CEDevice and CEDevice.Arm sections removed as well.)

I will experiment with different template settings tonight. (I am on the east coast of the USA - GMT-5:00)

Oh..finally I may have found something usefull ;)
It looks like there is another cabwiz version, just for smartphones

Look here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-general-discussion/94713/creating-cab-files-for-a-ms-smartphone/

I'm going to insert a new option inside FBA: Smartphone setup builder and adding this cabwizsp inside FBA.
This will allow to produce SP setups; let's hope Microsoft kept same inf/ini format also for cabwizsp :)
In this case..I'll release a new version very soon!

That sounds great.

I look forward to testing it.
